Obituary for
John Peter Sarawanski
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Sarawanski of Bonnyville, Alberta announces his passing on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the age of 91 years.
John was a very community minded person and throughout his years he was on many service boards. Some of them being a Hospital Board Member for 36 years, Advisory Committee Member, Service Board Representative and ID Councillor. John was a hard worker who loved his family, farming and carpentry.
He will be forever remembered and loved by his wife of 65 years: Helen Sarawanski of Bonnyville, AB; daughter: Susan (Walter) Kardash of Iron River, AB; daughter-in-law: Carol Sarawanski of Iron River, AB; seven grandchildren: Steven (Amanda) Kardash of Iron River, AB, Christina (Garrett) Wiebe of Mundare, AB, Raymond (Krista) Kardash of Iron River, AB, Jonathan Sarawanski of Winnipeg, MB, Alyssa (Adam) Jessome of Edmonton, AB; Christopher Sarawanski of Bonnyville, AB, Anthony Sarawanski of Iron River, AB; seven great grandchildren: Jenelle & Riley Kardash, Zachary & Alex Wiebe, Eleanor Kardash, Adeline & Maeve Jessome; three sisters: Mary Anderson of Camrose, AB, Nell (Mike) Makar of Edmonton, AB, Elizabeth (Sam) Johnson of Sherwood Park, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives.
John was predeceased by his son: David Sarawanski; grandson: Nicholas Kardash; parents: Petro & Maria Sarawanski; sister: Annie (Harry) Fersovitch; nephew: Curtis Makar; niece: Debbie Makar; brother-in-law: Hampton Anderson.
Prayer Service, Monday, August 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bonnyville, AB. Funeral Service, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bonnyville, AB with Reverend Father Peter Haugen officiating. Pallbeaers: Steven Kardash, Raymond Kardash, Jonathan Sarawanski, Christopher Sarawanski, Anthony Sarawanski, Glen Makar, Garrett Wiebe, Adam Jessome. Final resting place, St. Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Sandy Rapids, AB.
