Obituary for Mike Capp

Mike  Capp
Owlseye World War Two Veteran passes. Mike at the age of 14 years immigrated to Canada from Europe with his mother and brother John in the spring of 1937, joined father Mike Sr. who came to Canada earlier.
On the 11th day of February, 1943 during the Second World War, Mike, at age 19 enrolled into the National Resources Mobilization Act 1940 at the Prince of Wales Armories Edmonton, Alberta. He served in Canada, The United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Upon entering the army he was sent to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where he took up basic training. After completing his basic training he was sent to both Calgary, Alberta and Wainwright, Alberta for advanced training.
After completing his advance training and before going overseas Mike was sent to Prince George, British Columbia to the First Division Generals Headquarters to serve as a guard. The General that he was guarding for was a fellow by the name of Arthur Ganong. Arthur owned and managed Ganong Chocolates in one of the Eastern provinces which is still in operation today by his family. While Mike was there as a guard, General Ganong would always call him by the name of "Laddie." After going overseas in 1944 Mike served in Scotland, England and Occupational Troop Forces in Belgium, Holland and Germany until April of 1946 when he was then discharged back into civilian life.
On Saturday, January 13, 2018 Mr. Mike Capp Jr. of Owlseye passed away at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by his brother: George Capp of Owlseye; sister: Olga Ference of Elk Point; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mike is predeceased by his parents: Mike Sr. & Helen Capp; brother: John Capp.
To honor Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held.
