A Tradition of Trust

Don Thackeray and his wife, Elda purchased Memento Funeral Chapel in 1975 in Bonnyville, Alberta from Cam Fontaine.  Don is a past-president of the Alberta Funeral Service Association and has served on the Alberta board for ten years.  He is also a past representative for Alberta on the board of Funeral Service Association of Canada. Together Don and Elda also established another office in Cold Lake, Alberta to conveniently serve families in the surrounding areas. 

In 1993 their son, Jeff, became a part of Memento.  He became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1997 following in his father's footsteps. Carrying on the family tradition Jeff and his wife, Teresa  now own and operate Memento Funeral Chapel with offices in Bonnyville, Cold Lake and St.Paul. They have two children, Sydney (22) and Scott (20). 

In January 2020, the Thackeray family welcomed a third generation into the family business, Scott Thackeray, who began his apprentiship as a Funeral Director/Embalmer. Scott is working hard to learn the details of the industry "the Memento way" and with generations within the business they promise to continually strive to serve you with compassion and professionalism.
